The University of Toronto Engineering Society (Eng.Soc.) was founded in 1885, and since then it has been the student government of the Engineering undergraduate population. From its roots in student advocacy, the Eng.Soc. has expanded its involvement to various activities such as organizing social events, publishing newspapers and sustaining musical groups.

“The Toike” was first published in 1911. Originally intended as a serious forum for communication between the members of the Eng.Soc., it has developed into a newspaper whose prime focus is humour. It is one of the most widely read papers at the University of Toronto, being snapped up instantly as copies are distributed across campus.

The Toike is created entirely by student volunteers from the U of T Engineering Society. As a result, we are able to offer competitive advertising rates while reaching a broad readership of university students. Our mandate is to publish a quality humour paper that is both fun and entertaining for all students at the University of Toronto!
