Russian Semiconductor Physicists Banned from Olympics Following Doping Scandal

Shocking news hit the sporting community last week after the International Olympic Committee officially barred all Russian semiconductor physicists from participating in events at Seoul 2018. The IOC cited longstanding concerns over doping practices among the researchers. It is widely confirmed that dozens of Russians have practiced doping, introducing impurities into their crystal structures in order to better control the outcome of the competition.

Despite resistance from the Russian physics team and its numerous sponsors, Olympic officials have held firm and refused to conduct further negotiations. The current situation has left thousands of Russian fans disappointed and emotionally charged, while the IOC tries to diffuse the situation.

Indisputable evidence found in urine samples suggests the presence of pee-type doping in virtually every member of the team, and most officials suspect the use of n-type methods as well. For these reasons, the entire Russian team has been (valence) banned from the (electric) field.

Some experts have suggested that due to Moore’s Law, the amount of doping that can fit into one Olympics is likely to double every time the event is hosted, or approximately every two years. Others speculate that if this is indeed the case, the practice may simply be integrated into the Olympic circuit in the future.
