The Toike Oike spoke with this year’s 24 member Skeleton team in this exclusive report. The team will be attending this year’s Spooklympics in Halloween City, much to the excitement of their fans.
With the 2018 Olympics just around the corner, Canada unveiled its largest Skeleton Team to ever attend the Games. It was a source of great pride not only for the team members, who were felicitated with great aplomb, but also for millions of their fans around the world, who are all but too well acquainted with the prowess of the Canadian Skeleton Team on the track.
The Spooklympics has a history of introducing games that push the bone-daries for what sport can be. Can anyone ever truly forget the remarkable, synchronised broomstick jive by the British witches in 2014? Or the mesmerising summoning rituals of unwitting teenagers on Instagram? The highlight this year, however, is going to be the team of 24 Canadian skeletons who have worked themselves to the bone to participate in the skeleton races.
Spooklympics fans would agree with Mr. Hekyll Jyde, chair of this year’s Spooklympic Committee, in saying that this year’s skeleton races promise more enthusiasm than ever before. “It’s going to be heart-in-mouth levels of excitement that we are anticipating”
Of course, the same can’t be said for our athletes. “The atmosphere here is of serenity and determination. We’re really going to get out there, and show the world what sort of guts we’ve got!” said two-time gold medallist, Richard “Dick” Bone.
Fans, of course, were incredibly excited about the larger cohort entering the races this year, “There is nobody, anywhere aroun’ the worl’, who can tell me that these people will not sweep the medals away. I mean look at ‘em! They’ve got the body, and they’re light on their toes… it’s perfect!”
It seems that, amongst Spooklympics fans, this year’s games promises to be the one that’ll bring home some bonne humeur!
