Marmalade Rolls!!!

WE ARE SO BACK, I’M SO HAPPY WE’RE DOING CAT TOIKE. Welcome to another instalment of your favourite recurring series: Random Recipes inspired by the Toike Theme that might work, but like also I have not experimented in any way so with this warning if your house burns down you can’t sue us because the warning is literally in the title of the series. Today we will be making a recipe inspired by one of the names of our amazing Toike EIC’s cats: Marmalade!! Today we are making Orange Marmalade Rolls with Chocolate Frosting Topping!! Without further ado, let us begin.

Ingredients:

Dough:

2 and ¾ Cups All Purpose Flour

¼ Cup Granulated Sugar

½ Tsp. Salt

 ¾ Cups Whole Milk

3 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter

1 packet Instant Yeast

1 Egg

Filling:

2 Medium Oranges

½ Lemon

3 Tbsp. Water

2 Cups Granulated Sugar

Frosting:

Just buy this one at the store, it’ll be way easier!!

Directions:

  1. Make Marmalade: Wash and cut oranges into quarters (get rid of seeds too!!). Place these pieces into a food processor/blender.
  2. Add this mix to a sauce pan along with zest from the lemon and lemon juice. Add water and sugar and stir well.
  3. Bring mixture to a boil reduce heat to a low boil and simmer, stir often for 3-35 minutes until thickened.
  4. Pour into a jar, and place in the fridge to cool while we make the dough.
  5. Make the Dough: Whisk flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
  6. Combine milk and butter together in a heatproof bowl. Microwave until the butter has melted. Whisk in the yeast until it has dissolved. Pour mixture into the dry ingredients, add egg, and stir with a spatula (you could use a stand mixture, but let’s face it, we’re all broke college students, none of us have that). Mix until a soft dough forms.
  7. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface, and also flour your hands too. Then, like a cat KNEAD BABY KNEAD. You gotta knead that dough, because that’s why we all bake isn’t it? Once you are satisfied with your kneading, place into a lightly greased bowl, cover loosely and let the dough rest for 5-10 minutes.
  8. After the dough has had some time to rest, roll the dough out in a sizable rectangle. Then spread your marmalade on top. Roll up the dough and a BIG LOG!!! Cut into 10-12rolls and arrange in any pan that you have available to you!!
  9. Cover with a towel or foil for 60-90 minutes and let that dough rise!!.
  10. Once done rising, bake the rolls at 375 for 24-27 minutes. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, PULL THE ROLLS OUT OF THE OVEN IF YOU NOTICE THE MARMALADE BURNING, DON’T BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN FOR THIS RECIPE.
  11. Once done, spread your chocolate icing on top!!
