A Poem on Cats

There are many things out there that people very much like,

And for many, a fluffy animal makes their day bright!

But for some like me, you must be more wary than that,

For I’m allergic to cats.

Some own a cat, a companion in your home forevermore

Some make a pilgrimage to a cafe, drinks and fur they adore

But neither of these luxuries are things I can afford,

For I’m allergic to cats.

Every now and then, I’ll see a stray on the street

And I think to myself, “oh, I’d love to go greet!”

And every time this happens, I think better before my health is worsened,

For I’m allergic to cats.

In conversation some will express their hatred for felines,

And they will receive much pushback, and to be honest I’m inclined

To agree with the boos, because I have a much better excuse

For I’m allergic to cats.

So I write this as an eulogy to my cat-related dreams,

And I attempt to console myself with a cat cafe treat

But when I swallow it whole, I die.

Because I’m also allergic to peanuts.
